Many things can be said about Marco Mezquida and almost all of them are good. The Menorcan is one of the most versatile and versatile pianists on the Spanish jazz scene and, after celebrating the birth of his first child last year in "Letter to Milos", he is now back with "Tornado".

For this new job he has surrounded himself with two "old colleagues." the Japanese double bassist Masa Kamaguchi and the tremendous Catalan drummer Ramón Prats. Or as Mezquida himself says, «Kamaguchi is a unique, melodic, expressionist and passionate double bassist. Ramon Prats is a drummer who has a palette of resources and an infinite musical imagination.”

In Tornado they have sought to create their new music from three very expressive and strong musical personalities, with many registers, and at the same time very different from each other. And to create it, he has imagined a music of contrasts, with spaces to express himself in visceral moments alternating with spaces of a more introspective and intimate intensity. An album that is very different from that Mediterranean joy of "Letter to Milos" and that, on the other hand, takes us down very different paths...sometimes bright and other times, much darker.
