“Music for violin and piano is, for Sergei Prokofiev, the domain of the composer's maturity, even quite late. The three most important works by Prokofiev for violin and piano are not of obvious provenance, and their chronology is confusing. Expressively, they create an interesting and specifically complementary set in which sweetness is mixed with bitterness ”(Marcin Majchrowski).

The repertoire of the album includes: Pięć melodii op. 35bis (being a transcription of Five Songs Without Words, Op. 35, with the significant participation of Paweł Kochański) and two violin sonatas - in F minor, Op. 80 (dedicated to David Oistrakh) and in D major, Op. 94bis (a new incarnation of the Flute Sonata Op. 94, to which Oistrakh also contributed). The performers are outstanding virtuosos of his generation: Jakub Jakowicz (violin) and Łukasz Chrzęszczyk (piano). The tasteful, contrasted, extremely intriguing music was recorded by Tomasz Lida at the Krzysztof Penderecki European Music Center in Lusławice, courtesy of Stowarzyszenie im. Ludwig van Beethoven.
