In the anniversary year for women's suffrage in Norway, the Women's Student Song Association releases a CD with Brahms' works for women's choirs, where they have chosen to bring exclusively female soloists and musicians. Brahms women's choruses are not often performed in the Norwegian context, and perhaps this recording can help put this repertoire on the map here at home. In addition, the release may be a contribution to showcase Brahms' vocal music in a more Nordic tone. The CD is part of LAWO Classics collection box with new recordings by Brahms.

The Female Student Song Association (KSS) is the official women's choir at the University of Oslo, and has been around since 1895. The Female Student Song Association is conducted by Marit Tøndel Bodsberg who in recent years has lifted the KSS to new musical heights. Under her leadership, the choir has won several awards in competitions both at home and abroad, most recently during the NM in choir in Oslo in the autumn of 2012, where KSS won the Class Like votes A. This is the second record the choir plays at LAWO Classics - in 2009 came "Poor Earth Have Christmas Peace", which was named this year's Christmas CD by several Norwegian newspapers.

Marit Tøndel Bodsberg is educated at the University of Agder and the Norwegian Academy of Music, and regularly works with several of Norway's leading choirs and ensembles. In addition to being artistic director and conductor for KSS, she is choirmaster in the Ringsaker Opera and artistic director and conductor for Vest-Oppland Chamber Choir. Bodsberg received the Conductor Award during the choir NM in 2012.
