Pragmatic, concise and unpretentious, unmistakably Nils Wülker's handwriting. On the one hand. But with “6” he leaves the musical line of the previous albums without losing his own. It grooves, funk and rocks, with joy in the hookline and with creaking dirt under the valves. A vibrant mix of power and lightness. Guitarist Arne Jansen is a new permanent band member and is part of the compact band sound. Nils Wülker has long been considered the songwriter among jazz musicians. With “6” he takes a decisive step further in this direction. All pieces follow a clear structure, carried by his trumpet. In two places the instrumentals give way to actual songs, sung by him for the first time.
