Shelter, pour trois sopranos et 17 instrumentistes, sur un livret de Deborah Artman, est le produit de la collaboration entre les compositeurs fondateurs du Bang on a Can : Michael Gordon, David Lang et Julia Wolfe. L'Ensemble Signal dirigé par Brad Lubman, qui a créé de nombreuses partitions du Bang on a Can mais aussi de Stever Reich, Helmut Lachenmann ou John Zorn, présente cette oeuvre en premier enregistrement mondial, après l'avoir jouée à Cologne en 2005 avec le Trio Mediaeval.
