Eduardo Farias - Perspectives (2024)

"PERSPECTIVES" is the very first album published under his name by the young carioca pianist EDUARDO FARIAS.
Noticed in France alongside saxophonist Baptiste Herbin in the albums "Dreams & Connections" (2018) and "Vista Chinesa" (2020), he has a substantial career as an arranger in Brazil and already appears in around thirty albums.

In order to qualify the Brazilian's music, the pianist's words speak for themselves: "I was born in Rio. I studied music with Lilian Bissagio then took composition lessons with Antônio Guerreiro. My first pianistic models are Brazilians: César Camargo Mariano, Hermeto Pascoal, Egberto Gismonti or even Luiz Avellar... Subsequently, I devoured many jazz albums, notably those by Gonzalo Rubalcalba, Brad Mehldau, Steffano Bollani, Tigran Hamasyan,... ". Everything is thus almost said of the main influences which have forged a clear and precise playing, coupled with a keen sense of dramaturgy as with him the melodies are always "orchestrated"; and Eduardo also specifies: "you have to know how to shake up the codes but with tact" - which he does in particular here on "Vera Cruz" and "Amazonas",“Brazilian standards” which lose none of their original breath.
The pianist is accompanied by a great rhythm player: Darryl Hall on double bass and Greg Hutchinson on drums, and he is joined on three tracks by saxophonist Baptiste Herbin.
