Dagfinn Koch - Forandring (2024) Hi-Res

The ballet performance Forandring was created by students from the Norwegian Academy of Music (Dagfinn Koch and Terje Winther), the Norwegian Academy of Ballet (Anderz Døving with dancers) and the Norwegian Academy of Fine Arts (Yngve Næsheim and Nico Widerberg) in 1985. The performance was shown at the REKA theater, located in Aker Mekaniske The workshop's disused industrial premises in Dokkveien 1 - which today is Aker Brygge. The composers worked on the music for several months and used synthesizers, drum machines, tape loops and an eight-track tape machine. With access to a very simple sequencer and no sampler, much had to be recorded and cut by hand.

Musically, it is a picture of the times, where we combine post-Darmstadt EA music with sound commercial music. Among other things, we listened a lot to Peter Gabriel, Eurythmics and Propaganda. We believe it is important to have the music for the ballet released, as it also says something about how much greater resistance there was to realizing this kind of project then than now. Yes, that things take time, and the limitations lead to other choices.
