The Good Intentions are a three piece from Liverpool, UK. They evolved from several other Liverpool bands who have featured in the UK\'s Americana scene. They play music in an alt country/folk/roots style, featuring guitars, mandolin, pedal steel and banjo. The band members are R Peter Davies (lead vocal, acoustic guitar), Francesco Roskell (guitars, banjo, harmony vocals) and Gabrielle Monk (percussion, harmony vocals). After producing and distributing a demo CD, the band were approached by Charlie McGovern of Boronda Records, North Hollywood, who came to produce their debut full-length album, \'Poor Boy\'. Charlie had previously worked with Mark Olsen (ex-Jayhawks), Randy Weeks and Chuck E Weiss. The basic tracks were recorded in Liverpool, and then produced at the legendary Big Ol\' Studio in North Hollywood, with wonderful contributions from Mike Stinson (drums), Rob Douglas (bass) and Rick Shea (pedal steel, mandolin and dobro). Rick was for many years a member of The Guilty Men, Dave Alvin\'s band. The record was then mastered by John Nowland, who has been involved in many of Neil Young\'s records over the years. The songs on the album were all written by R Peter Davies, and initial reviews have commented on the Byrdsian feel to a lot of the music, with the emphasis on three-part harmonies. The band all feel that, based in Liverpool, the port from where so many Europeans left for America with the traditional music that evolved into country music, they are reclaiming the roots of that music, and celebrating the links between the British Isles and America. In the words of R Peter Davies - \'From Liverpool to Nashville, wherever they may roam Our hearts are only looking for a place to call a home.\'
