Synod - Empty Hand (1980/2024)

On April 02, 1980 Synod completed "Empty Hand", which included both new tracks and reimagined versions of songs from the previous decade. Through years of performing, writing and recording, Synod's arrangements became more efficient while more textured.

Synod - Estates (1978/2024)

This album was completed on July 21, 1978. It contained some songs that were later re-recorded as singles as well songs influenced by prog rock, Latin and jazz. Many of the recordings were made at the band's home in Hoffman Estates, Illinois and reflect the changes they witnessed in the industry.

Synod - Hopes and Dreams (1976/2024)

Completed on April 16, 1976, many of the 11 songs in this collection were staples of live performance for over a decade. During this time, Synod travelled extensively, playing from New York to Georgia and South Carolina to Nebraska. They played Chicagofests and other festivals, high schools and especially colleges, and the recordings reflect the major upgrades to sound, lighting and transport that Synod was experiencing at that time.

Synod - Nobody's Jukebox (1974/2024)

Synod's second album, it was completed on December 31, 1974. Glenn Rutz had joined the band on drums and numerous instruments in early 1973, and Bob Krueger on percussion joined shortly thereafter. The album earned the attention of two major labels, and several of the songs ended up in well-produced single versions included in the Studio Tracks collection. This album is periodically found in collections in the US and Europe.

Synod - Sent to Reconcile (1972/2024)

John Strege, Paul Rogner and Craig Rutz met as Freshman at Concordia College (Chicago) in 1969. Life led them to create a rock band they called Synod, which first performed on campus on April 29, 1971. A year later they recorded their first album at the college studio, completing it on August 05, 1972. The nine songs in this collection are an eclectic mix of styles and influences, finishing with "Expand Our Minds, Lord", which was inspired by the original Woodstock Festival. On the strength of this beginning, they continued for four decades.
