MAXIME DE BOLLIVIER - photographer / videograhper / director / musician: a symphony of artistic mastery

in the vibrant tapestry of artistry, maxime de bollivier emerges as a virtuoso, seamlessly blending the visual and auditory realms. maxime's journey into the realms of photography and music began with an insatiable curiosity, evolving into a captivating narrative of creativity. his musical journey took a dynamic turn when he discovered rave parties at the age of 16, immersing himself in the worlds of electronic and hard music. maxime's approach has been empiric, a departure from academic rules, allowing him the freedom to traverse various styles guided solely by his desires and intuition.

initially acclaimed as a photographer specializing in jazz and classical musicians, maxime's collaborations with renowned labels such as verve record and deutsche grammophon have afforded him the opportunity to work with esteemed artists including thomas enhco, laurent coulondre, vassilena serafimova, patrick zimmerli, david encho, and the amazing keystone big band.

while his distinctive use of color has become his photographic signature, enabling him to venture into diverse domains such as portraiture, architecture, culinary arts, and reportage, music remains an integral component of his work.

this musical passion is also evident in his other projects, notably 'awesome express,' an identity under which he has been composing and improvising for over 15 years, concurrently creating music videos for the same. in 2019, he ventured into videography with 'crop in my blue vein,' a live improvisational project blending image and music alongside clarinetist juliette adam. responding to musical improvisations with animated texture projections, this project transcends the conventional role of video as a mere accompaniment to music, treating it as a dynamic and interactive medium.

continuing his exploration of the interplay between music and image, he engaged in the 'no rules for monsters' project, an album illustrated by artist juliette stive. here, he composed eighteen tracks and took on the role of artistic director, culminating in an animated music video crafted entirely by the duo. this short film served as a platform for deepening his reflections on the relationship between music and image.

whether through photography, videography, or music composition, maxime de bollivier plays, frames, composes, deconstructs, and scripts his own rules, giving birth to unique and singular creations. his biography unfolds as a narrative of a modern-day renaissance artist, inviting us into a world where boundaries blur, and the synergy of visual and auditory art forms an enchanting masterpiece. his journey continues to inspire, reminding us that true art knows no limits.
