Originally released in Japan in 1985, His Majesty's Pop Life: The Purple Mix Club is a double-EP where extended and alternate mixes are the attraction. "Pop Life" is available in a "Fresh Dance Mix," there's a new mix of "Raspberry Beret," and a remix of "Paisley Park," a "Special Dance Mix" of "Let's Go Crazy," extended versions of "I Would Die 4 U" and "Erotic City," a "Dance Mix" of "Little Red Corvette," and album versions of "America," "1999," and "When Doves Cry." Many of these exclusive remixes wound up on subsequent reissues, including 2006's Ultimate, which means this particular compilation is primarily of interest to collectors.
