19-year old bassist Christian Minh Doky's debut recording as a leader features him sounding at his best when accompanying the other musicians although his solos do tend to be a bit long at times. Actually tenor-saxophonist Larry Schneider is the star of the date, taking some of his finest improvisations on record. Pianist Thomas Clausen is also excellent while drummer Ben Perowsky keeps the music moving. The quartet performs three of Christian Minh Doky's originals (a couple of which hint at Danish folk songs), a number from his older brother pianist Niels Lan Doky, "Alone Together" and "When You Wish Upon A Star." This is a fine start to Christian Minh Doky's solo career.
