Pascal Rogé is today’s greatest ambassador and stylist in French piano music. Winner of two Gramophone Awards, his name has been synonymous for many years with the finest French piano-playing both in concerts and on disc. On this disc he is joined by his pianist wife Ami and percussionists Paul Clarvis and Joby Burgess for an exciting recital including a world premiere recording of a work composed for the Rogés: Matthew Hindson’s 'Pulse Magnet'; Bartok’s masterful Sonata for two pianos and percussion; and the rarely performed arrangement by Ravel of his 'Bolero' for the same forces. The fame of 'Bolero' always irked its composer "I’ve written only one masterpiece – Boléro. Unfortunately there’s no music in it," was his wry comment to fellow-composer Arthur Honegger.
