Significant Other is a blues-based rock band from Rochester, NY. The band plays original music and adapted covers. The members are: Jennifer Snyder (vocals), Brother Wilson (guitar/vocals), Joe Lana (drums), Perrin Yang (electric violin/vocals), Stephen Siegel (keyboards), Zac Walker (saxophone) and Glenn William (bass). Perrin Yang (acoustic and electric violin) also performs as a first violinist with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO). Stephen Siegel, who has played in many jazz, pop and R&B bands plays Hammond organ, piano, electric pianos and synthesizers. Guitarist Brother Wilson has performed with large touring bands throughout North America including Sly Stone, Chaka Kahn and Teddy Pendergrass. Drummer Joe Lana is revered as one of the best drummers in the region, having played with Uncle Plum and other well-known bands. Zac Walker is also recognized as the sax player for the Dirty Bourbon Blues band. Vocalist Jennifer Snyder is also an accomplished keyboard player and has been on the independent radar as a solo artist since 2000. Bassist Glenn William, who holds down the low end, has written the lyrics and music for the band’s originals and serves as the band’s manager. With a variety of tastes and different musical backgrounds, Significant Other creates a unique musical style. Comparisons are made with acts such as Susan Tedeschi, B.B. King, Van Morrison and Grace Potter. Significant Other is currently performing distinctive originals as well as adapted covers at select venues and events.
