Wigwam - Nuclear Nightclub (1975) LP

Nuclear Nightclub is the fifth studio album by the Finnish band Wigwam, which was released in June 1975. The album was very popular in Finland, where it topped the album chart for nine weeks. In 1976, the album crossed the gold record mark and has sold 25,000 copies. The album was also released at least in Sweden, the Federal Republic of Germany, Yugoslavia, Holland, Spain, France, Japan and on the Virgin record label in Great Britain, where the album sold around 10,000 copies. The single "Freddie Are You Ready" / "Kite" released from the album became one of the ten best sellers in Finland.

Nuclear Nightclub is the first studio album by Wigwam's new, so-called "deep pop" era line-up (Groundstroem–Pembroke–Rechardt–Österberg). In terms of style, it is significantly more reduced and pop-like than, for example, the previous studio album Being (1974).

The group prepared for the recording carefully by rehearsing for several weeks with producer Pave Maijanen. Several songs were made into a demo tape at the Microvox studio in Lahti. This was groundbreaking in Finland at the time. 18 days were reserved for the actual recordings at Stockholm's Marcus Music studio. A snippet of the demo recording of "Freddie Are You Ready" has been released on the Loveradio 4 compilation album.

In Soundi magazine's critics' vote, the album was ranked as the second best Finnish album of all time. In 2022, Helsingin Sanomat asked more than 70 Finnish music industry influencers to name a maximum of 20 songs that were most important to them at that very moment in order of preference, based on which the magazine compiled a list of the 100 best songs. "Freddie Are You Ready" reached the 54th place in the overall results of the survey.
