Eric Legnini - The Day You Came Along (2023)

Italian-French-Belgian pianist Eric Legnini could have African-American roots. He is also inspired by this culture and it shows. His careful rhythm and his need to share made him give in to his great desire to invite double bassist Sylvain Romano on his solo album.

With the idea of total freedom, it was a possibility to have a guest, while keeping in mind that it must above all be a solo album. His choices, his repertoire, the order of the pieces, the organization of the recording day contributed to the emergence of a marvel. The sound is unique to each person, despite the same sound engineer, the same location and the same microphone system. Here it is so round and enveloping that you could imagine yourself in a great concert hall.

The duo's exchanges are intense, Eric's bass is present and sometimes seems to merge with Sylvain's, we surprise ourselves by not knowing anymore and it's sublime. The dialogues, the speeches are exquisite. The solos are remarkably performed with finesse and richness.
