Filip Ekestubbe Trio - On a Clear Day (2018)

Filip Ekestubbe belongs to the new generation of Swedish jazz stars. He has figured on jazz scenes in Sweden and Europe for almost 10 years and has collaborated with artists like Magnus Lindgren, Isabella Lundgren, Edda Magnason, Peter Asplund and Bo 'Bo-Kasper' Sundström, Amanda Ginsburg and many more. After five intense years with his piano trio, Filip releases his debut album ‘On a clear day’. The disc contains nine tracks, most of the songs from The Great American Songbook in their own arrangements, where the trio’s personal style is featured, but also some orginal tracks by Filip. Impact of odd ‘time signature’ and different styles are also integrated tastefully with respect and reverence over the origins of the compositions. Filip Ekestubbe Trio retrieves its roots from the second half of the twentieth century. Influences can be be heard from any of the greatest, including Oscar Peterson, Ahmad Jamal and Bill Evans.
