Daydream Twins - Bombinate (2023)

A journey through ripping fuzz, verbed ballads, duetted vocals, and dreamy sludge awaits with the second release of the gazing duo, Daydream Twins. The extended play kicks off with a heavy, vocal-harmonizing ballad entitled, "Gleaming", showing the couplet at their full force of spacey melancholy and dense riffage. Continuing into the hyper-waltz, which is the title track, "Bombinate" delivers a pounding yet pacing rhythm section, supporting lead singer Jordan Terry’s simmering vocals. Winding down with the cinematic and emotionally epic hymn that is "Howard’s Murder", the visitor is dispatched into a sluggish and methodical voyage of shiny, spinny and hazy guitar trills, with a drum beat that leisurely pummels its way through feedbacking soundscapes. "Cherub" re-energizes the guest with grooving drum lines and in-your-face distorted, scratchy melodies. Closing up the five-song compilation is the seven-minute discotheque, trance number, "Cut", sending the listener into an underground, fog-machine-ridden cabaret, where the shuffling percussion springs off walls and the shimmering, grimy guitars slice like club lights.
