José Manuel Cerqueira Afonso dos Santos (Aveiro, August 2, 1929 - Setúbal, February 23, 1987), also known as Zeca Afonso, was a Portuguese singer and songwriter. Originally he is assiciated as of the founders of Coimbra fado. He was a central figure in the movement of the renewal of Portuguese music that developed in the 1960s and continued in the 70s, with his famous songs from the intervention, the content of the left, against The Portuguese Regime.
