Jules Brennan - Egretia (2023)

Hot on the heels of his Wamono vinyl LP, Jules bursts back with this impressionistic collection of oriental, surrealistic jazzy grooves inspired by the progression from deep winter into a lush green spring then through the stifling rainy season, culminating in the frenzied heat of Kyoto’s Gion Festival. One constant through all this is the egrets and herons which hang and glide along the Kamogawa river, representing both day and night ( 'the ghostly whites that fly by night ')- elegance, purity and longevity, yet also greed; being gregarious, the visceral.
