Taking it back to the basics, Ambré, the self-taught, Grammy-winning, singer and songwriter, is set to release her latest project, ‘who’s loving you?’ on June 16th. The five-track album has been curated to “feel easy to listen to and something you don’t think too much about”, describing her work as “more like one of those albums you buy with the deep cuts”. Growing up in New Orleans, a city known for its ingrained music culture, Ambré explains the city “helped me to bring out my natural love for music”. The mononymously named artist played in a marching band in high school and sang in a choir throughout her childhood, as well as playing the guitar from a young age, to which she still uses to create her musical art, “I’ve been around music my whole life, it helped me become a better musician, trained by ear”. She wrote her first song in elementary school, but as for now, Ambré takes a unique approach, “I like to light candles and incense, put a movie on in the background, sometimes I like to write lyrics to songs. I like to create good vibes to start my process, I listen to music before, anything I’m feeling that day”, listing a few inspirational artists such as Andre 3000 and Frank Sinatra. “I write about pretty much anything, my experiences and my friends, anything that’s going on around me. I’m experimenting, I’m putting more of myself into my music.”
