Birgitte Stærnes - Fading Time (2023) Hi-Res

30/11-21 the renowned violinist Birgitte Stærnes is the soloist with TKO in Bjørn Skjelbred's violin concerto "Fading Time". The violin concerto was commissioned by Birgitte Stærnes and was premiered at Halvorsen Musikkfest 2019 by Stærnes and TKO. This will be the second performance of the work. Also on the program are Nils Henrik Asheim's "In Short", Ottovino Respighi's "Antikke Danser" and Edward Elgar's "Serenade for Strings". Artistic, conducting and playing leader: Per Kristian Skalstad.
In recent years, Birgitte Stærnes has given a number of concerts in Norway, Svalbard, France, Spain, Denmark and Estonia, the Canary Islands and Italy, the Czech Republic and Russia. In the spring of 2012, she released a CD with works by Johan Halvorsen together with Helge Kjekshus. The CD received rave reviews in The Gramaphone, the Strad and Musikal Opinion!
Together with guitarist Martin Haug, she formed the duo A Corda in 1997. The duo has since given a number of concerts at home and abroad and recorded 4 CDs. From 2007-2009, they were the only duo to receive ensemble support from the Norwegian Culture Council. Birgitte Stærnes is the artistic director of Johan Halvorsen Musikkfest.
