The wonderful voice of Joan Mills, which seems to carry the lamentations of thousands of working class women. I don't know if that pained tone is her natural style, but it's made in heaven for our particular album anyway. This is the best British folk album I have ever heard. There aren't many albums that you can learn from in a literary sense and still enjoy. Michael Raven is one of the biggest names in the resurgent British folk scene. He collaborated with Ms. Mills on several works..
