Stoner Bud’s - Vampires (2023) Hi-Res

The first time we heard of Stoner Bud's was last year when they collaborated with Opinion. Following this, the Bordeaux trio decided to stand on their own two feet by making a name for themselves on the concentrated French indie rock scene. And here finally comes their first record called Vampires.

Throughout these ten titles, the musical influences are quickly felt. Stoner Bud's offers us a good compendium of garage-rock and slacker indie rock with a pinch of punk worthy of the 1980s. And this gives rise to electric and life-saving moments like the opening track called "Would You Hear Me” setting the scene sumptuously before driving the point home with “Vampire” and “Like A Fool” of the most incisive.

Very quickly, the complementarity of the Bordeaux trio is felt on this most invigorating Vampires. And that is to say that Stoner Bud's has not finished impressing us with the excellent instrumental called "Happy Sunday" starting a rougher B side. We sail from Seattle to California with more abrasive tracks like “Sorrow Noises” and “Fix Me” before the trio goes wild once and for all with a monstrous finale called “Trapped”. In the end, the garage revival still has a bright future ahead of it and that's without counting on Stoner Bud's.
