For fans of The Go-Gos, Kate Bush, B-52s, Bow Wow Wow, Berlin, Wanda Jackson. Singer/songwriter/New Wave Icon Josie Cotton is back with a brand new full-length. The LP covers the gamut from New Wave (“Circle Dance,” “Disco Ball”), modern pop (“Day of the Gun,” “Too Beautiful”), ballads (“Overturning,” “Headlights”), cinematic garage rock (“Painting in Blood,” “Cold War Spy”) and rockabilly (“The Ballad of Elvis Presley”). Day of the Gun was produced and mixed by Cotton and her long-time collaborator Paul Roessler (TSOL, Richie Ramone, the Screamers, Nina Hagan). The record benefited from Josie’s expansive friends’ circle. Eddie Spaghetti (Supersuckers) plays bass on “Circle Dance” and The Fathomless Tale of Silky and Sam,” Clem Burke (of Blondie) plays drums on “Day of the Gun” and “The Ballad of Elvis Presley,” Kevin Preston (Long Shot, Prima Donna) duets with Josie on “…Ballad of Elvis…” while Stray Cat Lee Rocker joins in on standup bass (both appeared in the heavily viewed video for the track).
