Leandro Marziotte - Las Musas de América (2023)

Settling in Barcelona for years, the Uruguayan countertenor Leandro Marziotte launched an ambitious project: leaving classical opera to put music to three leading poets from the region.

The poets chosen were the Uruguayan Juan de Ibarbourou, the Argentine Alfonsina Stroni and the Chilean Gabriela Mistal, Nobel Prize for Literature in 1945, the first Ibero-American woman to receive such a distinction.

Marziotte said in Righteous and Sinners that since he was a child music and poetry were present in his life, so this symbiosis is not surprising.

The edition date of "The Muses of America" will be this Tuesday the 24th, coinciding with the month in which the three poets, in 1938, held a remembered conference that transcended borders.
