First trio recording for Victoria Shereshevskaya (mezzo-soprano), Alexandra Soumm (violinist) and Rémi Geniet (pianist), this album of singular variety of colors and expression contains works that are distant in their atmospheres, but all marked by a universalism of thought, which brings together Russian, Indian and French poets, popular and learned music. The repertoire for trio with voice is not much used on disc. However, like the repertoire for the violin, cello and piano trio, it is rich in fascinating works. The "Franco-Russian" selection presented here gives a significant overview and is full of surprises.
