The UK Hardcore quartet, Polar, are back with their 5th album “Everywhere, Everything” and is their most experimental material to date, bringing a more melodic element to their signature moody hardcore sound to create a unique and refreshing record to listen to. This album acts as a follow up to 2019’s “Nova” and because of COVID, Polar were forced to put all touring on hold. But from pain comes triumph as they focused all their energy into creating a collection of tracks that would make up “Everywhere, Everything”.

Polar have thrown a lot of post-hardcore elements into their new material, creating a much easier record to listen through with not as much aggression. The shift to a much more toned-down approach might be a surprise to older fans, especially if they’re expecting a similar sound to their previous record. But the more melodic elements in the music really show the bands ability to evolve and how to do it well. The new material doesn’t stray too far away from previous releases, but definitely stands on its own as its own unique ensemble. I would say the record is more on the lines of metalcore than hardcore, but it’s a strong contender to come out of this year.

Adam Woodford has a very distinctive voice when it comes to the more hardcore side of things, but “Everywhere, Everything” see’s the frontman in a new light as this record is dominated by his more melodic side. As well as the anthemic choruses, listeners are also treated with soft singing over some of the verses throughout the record, showing a side of the band we’ve never seen before but are more than happy to hear.

Polar have come into the new year swinging with a very impressive record, taking both sides of the spectrum of hardcore and smashing them together to create a very enjoyable record for all fans to enjoy. These guys are a band to watch out for in 2023, and I can guarantee some exciting things to come from them.
