Erling With Aasgård (born 31. March 1968 in Kristiansund) is a Norwegian organist, harpsichordist and church musician.Aasgård grew up on Åsskard in Surnadal municipality. He studied church music at the Conservatory in Trondheim from 1984 to 1989 and then under professor Jon Laukvik at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart. His time in Stuttgart ended with a diploma in organ in 1991 and harpsichord in 1995, both held in Stuttgart. Aasgård held his debut concert in Oslo konserthus in 1991. in 1993-94 he studied historical organs under Jacques van Oortmerssen at the Sweelinck Conservatorium in Amsterdam, alongside private studies with David Sanger and Nicolas Kynaston in England.Harpsichord lessons at bl.a. Gustav Leonhardt. her education at the Sweelinck Conservatorium ended with a concert examination at the Waalse kerk in Amsterdam in 1993.
In the years 1993-1995 he had a scholarship from the Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst (DAAD), and in 2002-2005 he had a working scholarship from the Ministry of culture.
Aasgård was the cathedral Cantor in Molde Cathedral in the years 1997-2007. He has also been Cantor in Kolbotn church, Oppegård church, Nidaros Cathedral, Værnes and Kolstad church; and also taught organ playing at The Music Conservatory in Trondheim 1999-2010. Furthermore, Aasgård has had concerts in several countries: Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Iceland, Spain, Germany, England, the United States and Russia (e.g.a. Moscow cat. Cathedral and Great Hall of the Philharmonic in St. Petersburg Petersburg). In Sweden, several concert recordings have been broadcast on radio by SR P2. Aasgård has specialized in Louis Viernes six organ symphonies.Presentation by J. S. Bach’s collected organ works and instrumental sonatas on the historic Wagner organ in Nidaros Cathedral, and in addition a complete performance by J. S. Bach’s instrumental sonatas for harpsichord from september 2011 to May 2012. These performances were distributed over 16 concerts.
