Toronto, ON-based all-female indie-folk trio, Lunar Bloom consists of Brittany Rae Robinson, Kelly McNamee & Jocelyn Regina.

On June 4, 2022, the band unveiled their album, Running Deep, which is made up of 11 tracks including their singles, “Running Deep”, “Call Me a Woman”, and “Heroes.” The album follows their self-titled EP, which was released back in 2019, and nominated in the Folk/Roots Category for an Independent Music Award in 2020.

Upon listening to the first two songs, I knew immediately that I was in for a treat, with beautiful vocal harmonies, and poetic lyrics, and the remainder of the album followed suit and did not disappoint.

The fifth track, “I Think I Could Love You” caught my attention as a very folksy-sounding song, full of harmonies. I got easily lost in this song, the music, and the lyrics intertwine perfectly, and at times sound reminded me of a calming track that you would play to reduce anxiety and relax.

“Apology”, the tenth track evokes sincerity and vulnerability in the lyrics, along with a beautiful light beat. When you’re listening, you almost feel that they are apologizing to you. It is easy to get lost in this song. I listened to it multiple times, as I was repeatedly pulled deeply into the lyrics.

If you’re on the lookout for a light-listening, folksy album, this one may be the one you’ve been waiting for.
