Six-piece trash country band HONK's debut EP 'Grand Opening' will be released from Fuzzkill Records.
The group, made up of first-timers and DIY veterans, was formed after a failed Christmas karaoke show. Since playing an instrument is learned as a job, a loose sense of unity creates a dangerous and exciting live like a mine train.
The lead single “Let The Dog See The Rabbit” is a song that resonates with itself while looking for something. "It's about being trapped in an eternal aftermath," says singer Chip Smitten.
Creeping keys, rowdy guitars, and swinging lap steel sounds sit atop a primitive beat alongside Smitten's raw grunts and gangster vocals.
Smitten describes the explosive punk track “Rat Party” as “a revival of 9-year-old poetry, still 20 years later about RATTLE ON, ripping the city apart.”
'Grand Opening' is either a 21-minute lament to rock'n'roll's roots or an exploration of the genre by those who haven't heard it. Either way, the DO calls them Country.
