The first edition of The Creation by Joseph Haydn from 1803 was not composed from the German version of the world premiere in 1797, but the English version of the text which served Baron Gottfried van Swieten as a master copy. The recording features a concert by Musica Saeculorum under the direction of Philipp von Steinaecker in the Cathedral of Brixen who used this English version of The Creation. English singers, Andrew Staples, David Stout and Robert Davies feature in this forthright performance.

Comment above is confusing.
1st private performance was in Vienna, 1798 in German.
1st public performance was in Vienna, 1799 in German.
1st performance in London was in 1800 in English.
1st publishing was in 1800 both in German and in English Christopher Hogwood recorded in 1990 (meetin...).
On publication Gottfried van Swieten changed English texts from original English and Haydn himself added musical notes for English.
Haydn's autograph has been missing since 1803 :(
This recording is same version as Hogwood or ... ?
Someone knows ?

Performance is fresh and dramatic, better than Hogwood :)
Thanks
