Attitudes - Good News (2022 Remaster) (2022) [Hi-Res]

This is the second album from this L.A. session "super group" featuring David Foster, Jim Keltner, Paul Stallworth, and Danny "Kootch" Kortchmar, and on this album they are supported by even more session players and one Beatle (Ringo Starr). Sadly, the album does not live up to the hype or the stellar cast of players. Once again, the music is a far too slick-sounding lounge/jazz style. Again, the lyrics are trite and say very little. The playing is tight and professional, but the songs just do not stand up on their own. The music is predictable, as the listener just knows when the song will go into one of the several solos, and this leads to a boring listening experience. There is no creativity or surprises. Beatles collectors will want this for Starr's involvement and because it is on Harrison's Dark Horse label (Harrison himself does not play on the album, but he does get a special "thank you"). Fans of David Foster will find this of interest, if only to hear early arrangements by him throughout the album. He also contributes a solo piano piece which is of little significance. © Aaron Badgley
