Hiatus Kaiyote - Mood Variant (The Remixes) (2022) [Hi-Res]

3x GRAMMY nominated Hiatus Kaiyote announce remix album “Mood Variant”–out 3rd April on Brainfeeder–and share a double single release of ‘Red Room (Nick Hakim Remix)’ and ‘Get Sun (Georgia Anne Muldrow Remix)’, which is out today. “Mood Variant” follows the overwhelming success of critically acclaimed album “Mood Valiant”, which is currently nominated for Best Progressive R&B Album at the 2022 GRAMMYS in April.

Nick Hakim’s signature approach at oblique indie soul reimagines the sanctuary of ‘Red Room’ with an air of mystery while the boundless muses of Georgia Anne Muldrow’s acclaimed album, “VWETO III”, spill over in a squelchy funk rework of lead single ‘Get Sun’. “Mood Variant” also enlists the talents of esteemed producers, featuring remixes from Mndsgn, Stro Elliot, DJ Khalil, Brainfeeder label mates Teebs, Salami Rose Joe Louis and more.

"Mood Valiant" came together over the course of six years during which the band spent time touring, writing and recording, culminating in a 2019 trip to Rio de Janeiro that led them to work with legendary Brazilian arranger Arthur Verocai. The album has seen praises from the likes of The Observer, Mojo, CLASH, The New Statesman, and End of the Year Placements on NPR, Bandcamp Daily, Bleep, Vinyl Me Please, Record Store, Rough Trade, and more.
