Britta Schwarz, Christine Schornsheim - Schubert: Winterreise, Op. 89, D. 911 (2019) [Hi-Res]

Die Winterreise, the song cycle based on texts by Wilhelm Müller, is one of Franz Schubert's best-known works. Hardly anyone else could convey the spirit of Romanticism and its guiding principles of longing, alienation and loneliness more accurately and to the point than Schubert, who completed this composition one year before his death. Britta Schwarz and Christine Schornsheim trace these thoughts in their recording on the contemporary fortepiano. At times sensitively reserved, at times stirring and energetic, yet always faithful to the text, the two interpreters succeed in breathing new life into Schubert's famous work of music. The balanced and well thought-out interpretation gives each lied a unique charm and opens up new perspectives for the listener. A must for every Schubert fan!
