omega attraktor started as an electronic music duo from Zuerich and Winterthur (Switzerland) by Ken Gubler and Oliver Jaeggi. The intention was to produce machine music that combines elements of modern electro with the sound and dystopian mood of late 80s electronic body music. The repetitive structures are implemented live with step sequencers and synthesizers. Since the beginning the use of self-soldered DIY instruments was an important part of their work. omega attraktor released several tracks and albums on vinyl, tapes and digital. In the meantime, Oliver Jäggi continues omega attraktor as a solo project.

"Fields of Sorrow" is the third album of omega attraktor and takes the project to a new direction. The tracks are more experimental and create intense dark ambient soundscapes. "Fields of Sorrow“ consists of 6 meditations on the last 2 year which were challenging on a social as well as on a personal level. The album is built around the title track that acts as a lament about the pain caused. The lament is understood as a source of comfort.

All the instruments and sound generators used for the recordings were soldered and manufactured by Oliver Jaeggi during the last years. The heart of the setup is a fourfold delay feedback network that uses an obsolete chip to create the delay. An oscillator bank and resonant filters were played as additional inputs to the network.
