Popa Chubby - Emotional Gangster (2022)

Ted Horowitz, aka Popa Chubby, has been rocking the blues in his own wild way for more than 30 years. Over the course of his career, which began in 1994, the U.S. electric blues singer and guitarist has released countless albums, most recently "Tinfoil Hat" in 2021.

in 2022 he presents another long player, this time returning as "Emotional Gangster". Although he doesn't leave out his particular rage, which is in a way his trademark, on the twelve-song album, he also shows an unusually gentle and personal side, for example in the song "Fly Away," which tells of a father who sees his child leave the family nest.

With "Equal Opportunity", a lively ode to women also awaits on "Emotional Gangster", "Why You Wanna Make War" is an anthem against violence, which Chubby recorded twice, as an English and a French version. With "Hoochie Cootchie Man" there is also a rousing Muddy Waters cover.

And so the imposing musician, who with his shaved head, tattooed arms and goatee does not remain unrecognized for long, once again shows his broad spectrum on "Emotional Gangster". His stormy, soulful playing has never been as powerful as it is today.
