Pianist of a thousand shades, Claire Désert leads an international career as a concert and chamber musician. A member of the Kandinsky quartet but also a professor at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, she is regularly invited to the biggest stages of festivals and elsewhere, and her stage and discographic activities always earn her the most distinguished praise.
At the age of fourteen, Claire Désert entered the Conservatoire Supérieur de Musique de Paris, where she obtained her first prize for chamber music in the class of Jean Hubeau, as well as her first prize for piano unanimously by the jury in Vensislav Yankoff's class. Her talents spotted, she then benefited from a special scholarship to perfect her skills in Russia, at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, with Evgeni Malinin. Back in Paris, still eager to learn to perfect her playing, she chose to join Roland Pidoux's chamber music class for another year.
It was from 1990 that his career really took off. Claire Désert, with a graceful free play and at the same time subtly measured, finds herself on the bill at festivals such as those of Radio-France Montpellier, La Roque d'Anthéron, Piano aux Jacobins, Lille piano festival, etc. In recital, when she is not performing the solo repertoire, she collaborates with renowned artists such as pianist Emmanuel Strosser, cellists Anne Gastinel, Gary Hoffman, violinists Régis Pasquier, Philippe Graffin, Tedi Papavrami, the Quatuor Sine Nomine, the Moraguès Quintet... She joined the Kandinsky Quartet, which won the Gui competition in Florence in 1989 and the Melbourne competition two years later. Together, they notably recorded piano quartets by Brahms, Chausson, Saint-Saëns, Lekeu.
As for the symphonic repertoire, it is accompanied by prestigious formations such as, in France, the Orchester de Paris, the Orchester National d'Ile-de-France, the Orchester Philharmonique de Radio-France, the Orchester Philharmonique de Strasbourg , the Orchester national du Capitole de Toulouse, but also travels the four corners of the earth, and goes to play, among other places, in Canada, Japan, Germany, Italy, Brazil, the Czech Republic...
On the discographic level, the awards are not left out: in 1997, the concertos by Scriabin and Dvorák earned Claire Désert a Victoire de la Musique, while the album with Emmanuel Strosser, entitled L'Enfance, was rated 4 stars by Classica and receives 5 tuning forks. Point of honor is allocated to the romantic repertoire: Schumann, Brahms, Chopin, Liszt, Schubert, here is material, for the artist, to express his singular sensitivity.
In September 2018, she released a new solo recording featuring works by Schumann.
Finally, Claire Désert, on the way and strong of her plural experiences, is named "Knight of Arts and Letters", and today teaches piano and chamber music at the National Conservatory of Music in Paris.
