Are you ready to dance with carrion stars? The band from sunny California Dance With The Dead released their next album with the laconic name The Shape.

If you are already familiar with DWTD, then "what is happening" on the album is unlikely to be a wonder. The band is true to its style - retrowave to all fields. The Shape is the perfect remedy for an acute attack of nostalgia for the days of VHS and 8/16-bit games. What the doctor ordered. And the simplest attempt to explain what Dance With The Dead is playing will be something like this - sketches of futuristic musical landscapes to a swinging beat.

In general, Dance With The Dead is one of the most famous among modern retrowave / synthwave, along with Perturbator, Megadrive, Dynatrone, Carpenter Brut. And among the musical diversity of the presented groups, they are among the most balanced in the ratio of "action films" and "dramas". To put it very roughly, some of the tracks from The Shape could be used as a soundtrack for Blade Runner, these are some kind of dramatic lyrical songs, others - for some Tron. Simply put, Dance With The Dead combines the airy lyricism and darkness of a raytravel with harsh guitar passages and solos. It is not entirely clear to consider this a minus or a plus, but sometimes vocals are really lacking, like that of Perturbator, however, this is purely a matter of taste.

For a retrowave, you can conduct one not tricky experiment - test it under the passage of the cult toy Contra: Hard Corps, how much it suits the atmosphere, mood, and tension of the music. The ideal criterion here is the trilogy from Carpenter Brut, a huge number of "action films" are deciding here. But The Shape also has something to brag about - atmospheric tracks sometimes only emphasized the fantastic riot of colors on the screen.

Now you are definitely ready to dance with zombies, ghosts, demons, if you wish, with cthulhu, and the like, since The Shape is an excellent soundtrack for such a bacchanalia.
