Songs From The Vaults Vol.2: The Proggers is a collection of outtakes and previously unreleased tracks by progressive rock band Asia. The band had previously completed work on the album Arena in 1995. When they returned to their studio in 1996 they found that a pipe had burst and had ruined thousands of pounds worth of equipment. Despite this a large number of unreleased tracks which had failed to make the previous three albums survived and were quickly considered for a new Asia release.
"On the first of January 1998 we returned to our recording studio, Electric Palace, in London. To our horror, much of the equipment had been destroyed by flooding. A water pipe had frozen and then burst, directly above the control room. We then began the lengthy task of salvaging what we could.The one light in the tunnel was a box of old tapes that we had archived, which without this sequence of events would have remained concealed.
These tapes contain a history of recordings that have remained hidden, un-played and un-released by Asia, plotting a parallel course to the last three studio albums. This special album shows a behind the scenes look at the song writing, influences and collation of ideas that will now see the light of day.
