Atlàntida can be regarded as the cursed work of Falla’s catalogue. The composer worked of this ambitious “scenic cantata”, celebrating Iberia from its antique legends to Columbus’ discoveries for twenty years, leaving the work unfinished when he passed away. From the sketches left, his pupil Ernesto Halffter completed the score in 1962, which first studio recording was due fifteen years later by the iconic Spanish conductor Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos. This is still one of the very rare performances of this piece.
