Eli Keszler - Icons+ (2021)

A new album by Newyork-based percussionist / composer Eli Keszler. He has released on Empty Editions, ESP Disk, PAN, and released'Stadium'on Shelter Press, and has been selected as Boomkat's "2018 Album Of The Year". Kessler's work, which is a frequent collaboration with Oneohtrix Point Never, Laurel Halo and Rashad Becker, is on display at the Lincoln Center, MoMA PS1, MIT List and Barbican.

Kessler's latest solo work is a grid of melodic percussion, drum sets, and electro-acoustic instruments, including American abstractionism, ancient tunes, industrial percussion, and Jazz Age film noir. Based on the fragments, it is a work that makes you feel the collapse of the empire. Kessler's instrumental performance is framed by panoramic recordings of New York and Odyssey Cave and other audio recordings he made as he traveled around the world, explaining, in addition to the loss and surprise that characterizes this era. It defines vast music that takes a surrealistic form that is difficult to do.
