Of course, as an audio fanatic, I like DSD over the lower FLAC (PCM) sampling rates but DXD has always been my favorite because of the “pop”.
Luckily, I had a DXD edition of the Vivaldi track to do a direct comparison with the track on this album. We are really getting somewhere with DSD 512. I wasn’t expecting much because these samples weren’t recording-to-file 512 but I hands-down prefer this DSD 512 over the DXD and this is a first for me.
It is the lack of fatigue. I didn’t notice the DXD being fatiguing before but when I go back to it after listening to the DSD 512 I clearly prefer the smooth and easy sound of the DSD 512. It is hard to put into words but there is something about the timing being less chaotic in the DSD on a micro scale so there is more discipline with the instruments.
