Punch Douglas is brothers Doug and Mark McMullen. They are debuting with their country album "Dead End Dirt Road", written and produced at their studio on a dead-end dirt road in Janetville, Ontario Canada. The album consists of nine original tracks based on facts, real events, and real people. The good, bad, and ugly sides of life in general.
Having grown up on the family farm (and each still residing in the countryside), as well as the steady influence of their parents classic country collection on vinyl, country music was a natural fit for the brothers.
But so was rock n roll! In their teenage years they formed a rock and roll cover band together and spent several years touring across Canada and the U.S. playing in as many as 250 different venues in a single year. In their off-time they wrote some songs and found that despite playing in a rock band, the songs they were writing sounded more like country. The band wasn't interested in the genre so the brothers built a studio and recruited their life-long bandmate, guitarist Jeremy Bulmer to loan his guitar skills to the project.
The first track on the album "As Country As It Gets" is an answer to anyone aware of their rock-past who might think they have "turned country". The song states that, though not always aware of their true identity, they were, and are still, as country as it gets! (With a little rock influence)
