Sammy Turner is a classy pop singer who's often mislabeled R&B, which is perplexing because there aren't many traces of rhythm or blues in his music. Turner is MOR, easy listening, and pop, but hardly R&B. This best-of presents 19 of Turner's best, executed in his laid-back methodical style, including his signature piece, "Lavender Blue" -- a title that aptly describes his voice. Turner's vocal approach worked well during the pioneering '50s but dated badly when the '60s rolled around.
