Mike Mareen - Essential (2010)

Mike Mareen was born and raised in Berlin. He got his first musical experience as a drummer for the "Cementery Institution" band, performing at the legendary Star-Club in Hamburg. In search of his unique musical style, he travels the world, including several years working in the United States as a vocalist in many bands. Returning home to Germany, he continues his musical training and also takes keyboard lessons. He puts on an extravagant night show that lasts all night in real time.

In 1982 he organized his own recording studio "Night n Day Records". The main goal is to help young musicians in their formative stage. In 1984-1985 Mike Mareen recorded his first album "Dance Control", which went on sale in 1985. The album was co-produced by Chris Evans-Ironside. The song "Dancing In The Dark" became a hit number 1 in 27 countries around the world. For example, in Mexico City alone, 50,000 records have been sold. In 1986, "Love Spy" was his definitive breakthrough, making Mike Mareen the king of Italodisko. He is one of the few European artists to make his songs on the American Billboard Charts. Thanks to his international fame, Mike became interested in the producer Roberto Blanco, known for working with many world music stars.

In 1987, another Mike Mareen song, "Agent Of Liberty", went to the top, which had been on many radio charts for a long time. At the end of 1988, Mike Mareen released the giant disc "Let s Start Now", which completely conquered the discos of Europe. At the request of numerous DJs, in 1991 Mike Mareen released a collection of his own remixes. This is where the first part of his creative career ends. Once again Mike Mareen makes his mark in 2004 with his new album "Darkness and Light", which is a collection of remakes of his best things of the past, as well as well spiced with new songs.
