Soloi Sounds - Found Lines (2021)

Soloi Sounds is a music project by a graphic designer based in Tokyo. He combines field recordings, old Roland synthesizers, Taishogoto (Japanese stringed instrument invented in the early 20th century), toy instruments and more to create ambient music. In making ambient music, he tries to set himself free from the world of graphic design where logic and grids dominate and to pursue asynchronous rhythms, melodies and moods that are not bound to playing techniques or theories. He has previously released albums from Post Global Recordings and Umé Records.

This album "Found Lines" is made with the concept of layering performances that have physical sways like paintings and drawings. Their melodies and rhythms are intended to draw a wide variety of lines by old Roland synthesizers, toy instruments, field recordings and more.The lines of performances that slip and layer concurrently change in loose relationships. In this album, he is expressing his emotions that change by seasons by the combination of environmental sounds and concrete sounds that are recorded in each season in Japan. Also, he tries to focus on the boundaries between melodies and environmental sounds, those between rhythms and concrete sounds, that is, the boundary between the music and the sound. He wishes you to enjoy this album -“Found Lines”- just like you enjoy pictures, and you to find “Your Line.”
