Originally released as a book/LP combination to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the1916 Easter Rising in Ireland, this magnificent, historically important production is now being released for the first time as a deluxe CD offering. Produced under the direction of Goddard Lieberson (legendary head of Columbia Records), this package comprehensively depicts the story of Ireland's fight for freedom in songs and ballads, interviews with survivors, excerpts from speeches by its leaders - including President Eamon de Valera - and many original photographs. Audio recorded live in Dublin, and by the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem, especially for this album.
