Originally released in England as Jimmy Cliff, this album contained some of the best material of Cliff's career. By itself, "Many Rivers to Cross," with its soulful, churchy feel, would have been enough to put him in the history books. Add the very political "Vietnam," the hopeful title track, and you had a reggae classic. While the film The Harder They Come would really bring Jimmy Cliff international recognition, this album is what truly put him on the musical map.
