This album is a real obscurity. Pianist Billy Taylor was the leader of the 11-piece band that played nightly on The David Frost Show. For their one recording (which is long out-of-print), the orchestra performs the show's theme ("By George") and mostly sticks to originals either by Taylor or bandmembers. The most notable players in the ensemble are trumpeter Jimmy Owens, Frank Wess (on alto and flute), electric bassist Bob Cranshaw and drummer Bobby Thomas in addition to the leader. A historical curiosity that is worth picking up.
